About the BlendEd Sunset
The sun sets, the spirit lives on!
BlendEd was born from an alluring, ambitious idea: that the walls of our individual schools were too small to fully hold all the innovation our students and teachers deserved. By weaving together the virtual, the experiential, and the deeply relational, schools across the Bay Area joined forces to create something genuinely new — a collaborative learning environment that reimagined what school could look like when institutions choose connection over competition.
As the BlendEd Consortium prepares for a spectacular sunset this June, we find that we are full of gratitude for every student, teacher, and school that brought this program to life. What BlendEd accomplished— the courses created, the connections forged, the pedagogical risks taken— represents a lasting contribution to Bay Area education and to the broader conversation about what innovative, student-centered learning can be.
The BlendEd Legacy at a glance:
-
A-Z Innovation: An impressive catalog of courses ranging from Applied AI in Python to Zen in the Bay.
-
A Connected Network: A thriving community of bold, creative educators committed to guiding learning journeys in and beyond the classroom.
-
Transformative Practice: A shift in how we see, reach, and inspire our students and push the boundaries of what’s possible in a classroom, real or virtual.
Clearly, the spirit that animated BlendEd doesn’t end here. The educators, leaders, and institutions that made this work possible carry its lessons forward, continuing to experiment, collaborate, and grow in their own communities.
To everyone who was part of this journey: thank you. Long live the spirit of BlendEd!
